People with very different religions and beliefs work in organisations. Whether a person is Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish or Muslim – you should respect their faith. Because our living and working environments are getting more diverse, this dimension has been gaining significance for several years.
What you can do
- Respect your employees’ religion and worldview and treat it appreciatively.
- Be aware of and take into account the religious holidays of various religions, for instance when creating duty rosters.
- Set up a “room of silence” in which employees can retreat for prayers.
- If your organisation has a cafeteria: adapt the cafeteria menus in accordance with religious customs.
