Winning with diversity: that’s what the Charta der Vielfalt e. V. is calling for from young employees aged between 16 and 27. The aim of the national DIVERSITY CHALLENGE team competition is to get young people excited about diversity and to empower them in their dedication to a working world that is free of bias and appreciative, a world in which everyone can unfold their full potential with their own skills.
It is everyone’s business how diversity is shaped in companies and organisations. Precisely young employees can offer a fresh look at how the working world and respect-based interaction could look in the future. The competition gives young people the opportunity to shape diversity with creative and innovative activities. The key question is: How can we push diversity in our working environment, filling it with life?
While the first DIVERSITY CHALLENGE took place from 2018 to 2019, young employees have again the opportunity to participate in the DIVERSITY CHALLENGE 2020-21. Due to Covid19 the challenge goes digital this year: Since January 2021, the teams attend to digital CHALLENGE.Labs, workshops and webinars on the topic of diversity, to prepare for their individual projects. In that way, the competition also represents an opportunity for the teams to stay in contact with each other, to exchange ideas and to get to know each other better - especially in times of home offices and social distancing, this promotes cohesion.
A total of 116 teams are currently developing creative ideas of how they can strengthen at least one dimension of diversity in their organisation, imbuing it with life. They have time to implement their activities until late June 2021, then to document them in multimedia and submit the documentation as a competition entry.
A jury will judge the competition entries based on five competitive criteria and select the best submissions. The winning teams will be awarded a joint trip to Berlin for the grande finale of an awards ceremony in the summer of 2021.
