GUS Germany GmbH
The Diversity Officer collaborated with the Film Club at University of Europe to create a night centering a film highlighting marginalized voices. The film shown was Rafiki, a Kenyan film about a queer love story between two Kenyan women.
Ausgangslage und Ziel des Projektes/der Maßnahme
The project is aimed at engaging students in diversity topics and specifically conversations about non-western produced and centered film, as well as conversations about the queer community and how it is represented and experience around the world.
Umsetzung
As Diversity Officer I collaborated with the coordinators of the Film Club by suggesting a list of movies with diversity and inclusion topics and students voted for their preference. We then watched and discussed the themes of the movie and the context it is set in.
Ergebnisse des Projektes/der Maßnahme
The outcome was not only introducing the Diversity Officer to more students for increased visibility, but also allowed students to interact with a piece from a non-Western point of view and discuss the important themes of the film.
